Spirit Airlines, noted for its notoriously low, if not overly complicated, airfare, provides daily direct flights from John Glenn International Airport to Orlando, Las Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, and Fort Myers.
However, flying with Spirit is not like flying on other airlines. This is bare bones travel at its most extreme, with customers incurring additional fees for everything from luggage to onboard water. Booking a vacation with Spirit Airlines can feel like running a gauntlet for inexperienced travelers.

1. Pay the extra to select your seat
If you’re on a low budget and don’t mind taking chances with seat assignments, go for it. However, since you’ve saved hundreds of dollars, why not treat yourself? Plane seats have developed an ever-increasing number of awkwardness throughout the long term, so look for one that won’t keep your knees stuck in your chest. When you fly with Spirit, you provide your entertainment. 4. Buy your tickets in the old-fashioned manner
Buying tickets online or over the phone incurs a variety of additional fees. The best way to buy Spirit flights is to go to the airline’s counter. Join the “Full Service” line and purchase your tickets there. If you decide it’s worth the extra money for the ease of booking online, keep in mind that you must print and have your boarding passes with you. Why?
Because, as you might expect, printing them at the airport incurs an additional fee.
5. The journey will be loud and crowded. Create strategies to block out the madness
These airfares are incredibly cheap. They are reasonably priced for families, which is excellent, but it also means that there may be a large number of children on your flight. Do yourself a favor and bring earplugs, an eye mask, and anything else permissible on a flight that will distract you from sobbing.

6. Nothing in life is free. That also applies to this flight
Water costs money on Spirit Airlines. The airline does not provide meals, so prepare your snacks for the trip. If you don’t want to fork over $3 on water, carry an empty bottle with you. You can load it with gasoline at the airport before leaving and then relax with it while traveling, realizing you’ve saved money.
7: If an offer appears too good to be true, it probably is
Spirit provides a “$9 Fare Club”. It does not provide flights for $9 and instead costs roughly $60, so the name is more than a bit deceptive. The Fare Club provides discounts on airfare and luggage, but you must figure out your trip to determine whether the extra cost is worthwhile.
8: There is a potential that your flight will be delayed or late
According to Forbes, only 65.3% of Spirit’s flights arrived on time in 2016. Since the odds are not in support of yourself, you want to devise a system quite a bit early. If you need to be in town by a certain hour, Spirit may not be the greatest choice. However, if you have a flexible schedule, the money you can save with a cheap trip can help you stay sane while playing your 25th round of Candy Crush in a row outside of an airport Starbucks.
